Discover the Pure Art of Hand Block Printing with Swati Sharma, of Brahma Karma.

“For a designer, detail and quality is God”, recollects Swati Sharma, the words of her mentor, Sanjeev Bothra. Brahma Karma complements with Red Polka’s Republic day theme- Kesariya, for its raw sensuality of hand-block printing, and finesse of the urban touch.

Brahma Karma is the brain child of Swati, who designs and manufactures exclusive hand block printed clothes and lifestyle products. Her products ranging from saris, comforters, baby blankets to clothing for men, women, and children, all come in very unique fun prints. She is nurturing her flagship store in Jaipur, and prepping up for the ‘Design One’ exhibitions, the most widely publicized and high-profile events. Here she is even more excited because of her collaboration with Doodleage; where her post production leftover materials are going to turn into high-end, exclusive garments. Juggling with time, Swati shares her story.

Swati grew up in Rajasthan, the iconic state for handmade textures, colors, and design. Naturally handicraft was woven into the very fabric of her life. Each little village of Rajasthan has its own craftsmen breeding out of the local people, and this inspired Swati. Three years of post-graduate studies in the crafts and design introduced her to the world of crafts and craftsmen in a more disciplined way.

The hand-block- print- Maharani to be, Swati prefers this art above other printing techniques, because it adds a unique charm and dimension to any fabric in ways that no other printing technique can. She has developed a range of block prints that appeal to modern urban sensibilities. With Brahma Karma, Swati offers exclusive designs that are timeless yet fresh, comfortable and adorable. You have the telephone print pyjamas and kids shirts, fish kurtas, number shorts, lollipop print kurtis and many other unconventional designs. All of Brahma Karma’s printing is done using discharge dyes that can sustain maximum number of washes.
