Meet the Queen of Quirk Fashion- Sneh Nihalani of Radio Rani!

Described simply in four words- fashion, concept clothing, quirky, sarees! She hums love in her styles, sings stories in her drapes and mixes moods in her prints. She is, Radio Rani. Every saree is composed with a theme. If one is based on the saga of Draupadi, another plays the shortest story ever in its prints. If one depicts Buddha’s calmness, the other is here to burn a few hearts.

When you ask Sneh to describe Radio Rani, the brand, she says, “Sing along and drape the one that unfolds the ‘Rani’ in you.” Let’s read more in a tete-a-tete with Sneh Nihalani, the face behind one of the most fun, and out-of-the-box brand- Radio Rani.

Sneh Nihalani

  • What inspired you to start Radio Rani as a quirky sari brand?

When it comes to sarees we generally play pretty safe. Why? I chose to consider it as 6 yards of playground and experimented with colors, designs, themes to bring out something unconventional.

  • What is Radio Rani best known for?

The themes or concepts we come up with. From mythology to moods, to festivals, to beliefs, here is some fashion for souls and not just sizes. Radio Rani as I say is for ‘girls for all ages’. We cater to women who like to stand out in clutter, who set their own norms and who are experimental when it comes to life and of course fashion.

  • Tell us more about your saree love and quirk love? How do you come up with ideas to marry the two loves?

I love sarees! I think it’s the most flexible apparel that gives you the liberty to look a different person by just the way you drape it.

All of us have some or the other quirk. My love for Radio was mine (and hence the name Radio Rani); and that’s what makes us interesting! Radio Rani is about picking up these traits and designing a collection around. Every saree is inspired by a woman I know, have seen, have heard or read about.

  • Can you please share some of your quirk tips for our readers?

Quirk is not conventionally safe to carry as a style. Wear a bit of confidence along and you are set!

Don’t overdo quirk. Fun is when just 1-2 things do the talking!

Play with accessories like I love tying small thread rakhis as ear-cuffs.

For all of us who would love to twist our basic wardrobe, and infuse a fun element in our everyday dressing, quirk is the way to go! We at Red Polka dig the fun element in our lives, so let’s quirk up and have fun!
