Plan a Party (NOW!) with Sajni and Ishita of The Humming Bird

“Parties are not about how much you spend, it’s all about the thought you put in…”– says Sajni Kachwaha, who simply wanted to throw a party the way she did back in her days in the US. She wanted to run away from all the loud colours and bling. She wanted to find party supplies as easily as she did there. Little did she know that she would have to turn her passion to throw fun parties into her profession! Here’s more…

1) How did The Humming Bird happen to you two?

The Humming Bird was founded in early 2014. All I wanted to do is find some cool and fun stuff for the parties I hosted for my new friends, in a new city- New Delhi. All I found was jazzy, and loud party props in bright colours. I wanted to introduce cool English colors into party décor. Around the same time I happened to meet Ishita Mittal Gupta, my school friend, who also was new to the city and we connected really well. We both had a matching aesthetic sense, and ventured into party presentations, and here we are, happily creating happy stuff for happy people.

2) What does The Humming Bird specialize in?

We started off with party planning and now have also ventured into making beautiful and comfy nurseries for babies. We give very simple, yet significant elegant touches to parties. We brainstorm party themes, offer gift customization, party props and more.

3) How can one rock hosting an impromptu house party?

Focus on all the fun you are going to have with all the friends you’ve invited for your party. It’s easy to liven up any party if you are creative; here are some points to consider-

>> Presentation- Label the menu, make cute stuff, light up your house, lighting plays a very important role in the presentation of your house parties.

>>Flowers and Candles- Decorate your house with flowers and candles. Bring in natural elements, they work out to be very good décor options. With tea lights and scented candles your house will fill up with aroma, enticing your guests.

>> Music- Music can bring life to the most boring parties. And yours are good ones, right? So, plan some cool music, consider your guests’ taste, and you are sure to have a rocking party.

4) What makes for some of the most interesting return gift ideas for guests?

Return gifts need not be expensive, just put some thought in it.

>>Prim and Proper Packaging- Pack your gifts with interesting papers or jute, make your gifts look beautiful, keep it simple and rustic.

>>On a Sweet Note- You could give your guests a jar of honey and let them know how they spread a lot of sweetness in your house with a message “Thanks for ‘beeing’ with us”, some exotic chocolates. If it is a high tea, you could make a spa set (Nail polishes, lipstick, and more).

>> Tag a Tag- Use tags! We end up not using tags that much. You can quickly make some tags rather than buying stationery all the time. They are easy to make, and turn out to be pretty inexpensive.

>>Personalized Note Cards- Try to get into the habit of leaving a personalized message for your guests. They’ll really appreciate your warm gesture.

Don’t forget to have fun!
