You don’t always need an occasion to throw a party, do you? But every time you do, how do you make it a rocking one? You want your party to be ‘whoopee’ and leave your friends raving about how charming you’re as a host. So, to complement our edition this week, “House Party—for the fun times”, here are 10 full proof tips to make you an impeccable host.
>> 1) Choose a theme
Boring get-together parties are passé! Theme parties are the hot new trend. There are tons of themes to choose from, just look around and you’ll find some awesome themes to match your mood. (Stay tuned for our Friday blog post, we will give you some uber cool party theme ideas!)
>> 2) Invite well in advance
Make a guest list, and invite them well in advance for them to have enough time to RSVP. Get creative with invites as well (send out a handwritten note, or a quirky sneak peek into your theme!).
>> 3) Be Prepared!
You don’t want to sit on your coffee table on the day of your party stressing over recipes on Google. Make a budget, a checklist and collect all the fresh supplies from the market a day prior. (This will leave you stress-free, and make sure you’re having fun at your own party!)
>> 4) Keep it Clean
It is extremely important to have a clean house with proper seating arrangements, dinner table set up with a beautiful candle or center-piece, jug of water, appetizers, appropriate number of cutlery etc. Keep the kitchen spick and span; make sure there is proper lighting as it plays a very important role in your party decor.
>> 5) Magic Menu
Depending on the time of the day and the theme of your party, decide a menu and then estimate the amount of food you’ll need to make per person (you don’t want people to go empty-stomach.) Play smart; ask them if they have any allergies or preferences. (While food is fun, wasting food is sin, so don’t go overboard either!)
>> 6) Stock up
Make sure that you have enough drinks, snacks, mixtures, etc. When it comes to your powder room it is also important to have an appropriate number of hand towels, paper rolls and liquid soap (you don’t want your guests to use gooey hand soap, do you?)
>> 7) Think Out of the Box
Do something that none of your guests would ever expect! Don’t shy to be creative, people always love something special and unique in a party.
>> 8) Be Hospitable
A few good etiquettes are necessary. Receive your guests at your door-step, engage into a conversation, and take them on a house tour. Make sure your guests are comfortable with each other. Stay calm and composed all the time, even if you goof-up, just smile and be happy.
>> 9) Plan a Playlist
Decide a good playlist on the basis of the theme of your party. (Songs people can easily hum). Keep the volume appropriately set, even if it is a dance party, the volume should be to a level where people can hear each other too and your neighbours are cool with your parties.
>> 10) Doll-up
Decide what to wear, and don’t shy-off, you have all the rights to look like a queen bee. A tidy and comfortable dress, nice hair-do and a little make-up. (You don’t want to overdo it, but don’t under do it either.)
So what are we waiting for, ladies? It’s is time to be the most impeccable host and throw a party quickly! Have fun! Incase you want to know more fun ideas meet the party experts- Sajni and Ishita from The Humming Bird here.
